What is OURthreads?

OURthreads.com is a social networking site designed specifically for users interested in fashion. Users can buy, sell and trade clothing and accessories right from their own virtual closet. 


Who Uses OURthreads?

OURthreads is perfect for anybody who wants to:


  • Share their wardrobe with their friends and the OURthreads community
  • Trade items they own (and no longer want) for items they do want
  • Sell items from their wardrobe
  • Shop for great clothes offered for sale by other users and boutiques

What is “My Closet”?

My Closet is your home within the OURthreads community. When you register with OURthreads you will be given a closet where you can post pictures of yourself, your clothes, your accessories and other items that you would like to share with the community.


What is the Favorite Closets section of My Closet?

The Favorite Closets section is where you can keep track of your friends, your favorite designers, and any other closets that you think are worth a look. When you are in a closet you like, just click on “Add to Favorite Closets” and a picture of the closet owner will appear in your Favorite Closets.


Why is there a gold border around some of my favorite closets?

If one of your favorite closets has added something new to their closet since the last time you logged on, their picture will have a gold border around it. Click on the picture with the gold border and see what’s new.



What is the Message Board?

The message board is an area in your closet where other users can leave you a message.


Can I delete a message that was left on my Message Board?

Yes. As the owner of your closet you have the ability to delete any message you choose.


How do I know a seller or trader will send my item to me?

After every transaction, each party will be asked to rate the other party’s trustworthiness on a scale of 1 to 5 stars (one star being the lowest trust rating).


Before you conduct a transaction with another user you should review their trust rating to ensure that you are comfortable doing business with them.



What is Inappropriate Content?

Users are prohibited from posting Inappropriate Content to OURthreads. Inappropriate Content is defined as:

  • Nudity
  • Images/Content depicting violence or dangerous or illegal acts
  • Hate speech or malicious use of stereotypes
  • Obscenity
  • Sexuality explicit content
  • Slanderous or libelous content
  • Pictures or content whose use or publication on OURthreads would violate the rights of another party
  • Counterfeit items
  • Content or items that are mislabeled, misleading, or incorrectly categorized
  • Pictures of items that do not match the description provided by the user.
  • Content considered to be offensive or inappropriate in the sole discretion of OURthreads.



How do I report Inappropriate Content?

If you believe that a user has posted Inappropriate Content click on the “Report Inappropriate Content” button that appears at the bottom of every page. OURthreads will review users that are reported as having Inappropriate Content and may suspend or terminate their accounts.


How do I report a user that I believe is trading or selling counterfeit items?

If you suspect that a user is selling or trading counterfeit goods click on the “Report Counterfeit Item” button that appears at the bottom of every page. OURthreads will review users that are reported as having Counterfeit Items and may suspend or terminate their accounts.



What is OURthreads’ privacy policy?

OURthreads is dedicated to protecting the privacy of our members. Click HERE to see the OURthreads Privacy Policy.


How do I change my personal and account information?

You can always change your personal and account information (except your Username, Closet Name and Trust Rating which cannot be changed). Click on the “Edit Profile” button in your closet.


How do I report copyright, licensing, trademark, identity theft, or other violations to OURthreads?

If you believe that content posted on OURthreads violates your copyright, click HERE to see our Notice to Copyright Owners. For other issues, email us at notice@ourthreads.com



Does OURthreads offer corporate advertising opportunities?

Yes. Email advertise@ourthreads.com if you are interested.


How do I change or reset my password?

You can change or reset your password by clicking on Edit Profile in your closet.


I forgot my username and/or my password. Can I retrieve them?

Yes. Go to the login page and click on I Forgot My Password or I Forgot My Username.

How do I buy an item on OURthreads?

First, you must be a registered user of OURthreads. If you have not done so already, click HERE to register.
If you find an item that you would like to purchase simply click on the picture of the item and then click on the “Add Item to Cart” button.
When you are ready to check out click on the “Shopping Cart” and proceed with the checkout process.

During the checkout process you will be asked to confirm your purchase. After confirmation, you will have the opportunity to pay for your items. Sellers will designate the type of payment they accept so be sure to check out their policy before you confirm your purchase.

All purchases must be paid for within 7 days of the date of purchase. A seller may elect to cancel a sale after that period if he or she has not received payment from the seller.



Am I buying items from OURthreads or the seller?

When you buy an item on OURthreads.com you are buying that item directly from the seller. Be sure to check out the users trust rating, shipping and return policies before you decide to make a purchase.


I put an item in my cart, but now the item is listed as sold out? What happened?

There are many unique items for sale on OURthreads that sell out quickly. If you find something you like you should complete the checkout process as soon as you are ready.


I live outside the United States. Can I buy items on OURthreads?

At this time, only people residing in the United States can buy or sell items.



What if I want to return my item?

Each seller dictates their own return policy.


I bought an item from a seller and the item was never shipped (or was damaged). What do I do?

You must contact the seller directly to resolve the issue. You can find the details of your purchase either in the email you received confirming the sale or in the Sale History screen located in your closet.

If a seller does not meet your expectations, you can leave a negative feedback for that transaction in the Rate Prior Transactions section of your closet.

How do I sell an item from my closet on OURthreads?

First, you must be a registered user of OURthreads and you must register to be a seller. If you have not yet signed up as a registered user of OURthreads click Here. If you would like to register as a seller, click Here.

To list an item in your closet for sale, begin by clicking on the Add Item in the Items for Sale section of your closet. You will be asked to select which items from your closet you would like to offer for sale. Input a price, shipping cost, and return policy. It’s as simple as that.



How do I get paid for the items I sell on OURthreads?

As a seller, you are able to choose which forms of payment you would like to accept (check, money order, and/or Paypal).

If you choose to accept Paypal you will need a Business or Premier account to accept credit cards (both are free to enroll).

What is the Items for Sale section of my closet?

This is where you put the items from your closet that you want to offer for sale to the OURthreads community. When you move an item to the sale section of your closet the system will ask you to set a price, shipping charge and return policy.


How will I know if someone has purchased one of my items?

You will receive an email from OURthreads letting you know that someone has purchased one of your items, their shipping address and whether they have selected standard shipping or express shipping (if you have offered this option).


What is the Sales History section of Items for sale?

This is where you can see your previous and pending sales transactions. Your Sales History will display transactions where you have purchased items from other users and where you have sold items to other users.


How will I know where to ship an item that I have sold?

You will receive an email from OURthreads with the details of the transaction, including the buyer’s shipping address.


Who pays for shipping?

As a seller you are responsible for the cost of shipping an item to the buyer. However, when you list an item for sale in your closet, you will be asked how much you want to charge for shipping. The cost of shipping will be added to the price of the item during the checkout process.


How much does it cost to sell items from my closet?

OURthreads charges sellers a commission of 3.5% of the total purchase price (including the cost of shipping).

What will I find in the My Account section?

You will find a list of all the current charges you have accrued as a member of OURthreads. During the first two weeks of every month, we will submit a charge to the credit card you have on file for all charges accrued during the previous month.



Can I dispute a charge that is listed on my invoice?

Yes. Click on the Request a Review button in the My Account section to submit a dispute or request a refund.

How much does it cost to trade items on OURthreads?

Trading is always free within the OURthreads community. However, each party to the trade is responsible for the cost of shipping their item to the other party.


I would like to offer an item in my closet for trade. How do I do that?

First, you must be a registered user of OURthreads. If you have not done so already, click HERE to register.

Click on the Add Item button in the Items for Trade section of your closet. You will be asked to select the items from your closet that you would like to list for trade. Once an item is in the Items for Trade section other users will be able to propose a trade for one of the items in their closet.

If a user proposes a trade for one of your items, you will receive an email notifying you of the proposed trade. You will then have option of accepting or rejecting the proposed trade by clicking on the “Items With Proposals”.

If you accept a trade, you and your trading partner will receive an email notifying you of the items traded and the shipping address where your item should be sent. Each party to the trade is responsible for the cost of shipping their item and the items should be shipped so that they are received by the other party within 10 business days.


I would like to propose a trade for another user’s item. How do I do that?

If you have moved an item to the Items For Trade section of your closet you can propose that item for trade for any item that another user has listed in their Items For Trade section.

You will receive an email once your proposal is accepted or rejected.

If your trade is accepted, you and your trading partner will receive an email notifying you of the items traded and the shipping address where your item should be sent. Each party to the trade is responsible for the cost of shipping their item and the items should be shipped so that they are received by the other party within 10 business days.


How will I know if one of my items has received a trade proposal?

You will receive an email from OURthreads notifying you of the proposed trade. You will then have option of accepting or rejecting the proposed trade by clicking on the “Items With Proposals” button.


Who pays for shipping?

If you are conducting a trade on OURthreads, each party to the trade is responsible for the cost of shipping their item to the other trading partner.

Can I return an item that I received in a TRADE?

No. All trades are final. But, if you don’t like what you got in a trade you can always offer it for trade and see if you can get something better.


Can I return an item that I PURCHASED on OURthreads?

Yes, but only if a seller permits returns. Be sure to check the return policy on an item before you purchase it.


A buyer returned the item I sold. Will OURthreads return my Commission?

Yes. Go to the My Account section and click on Request a Review. Submit the requested information and OURthreads will review your request. We will return all commissions associated with legitimate returns. If your credit card has already been processed, we will issue you a credit on your next month’s invoice.

Please note that we track all requests for review. Too many requests for review as a percentage of your overall transactions could lead to suspension or termination of your account. We are striving to build a community that is fair for everyone. So, please be honest.

How do I search for a user on OURthreads?

Click on the “Find A Closet” button at the top of the page. You can search for a user by their closet name, username, style rating or hometown.


How do I find other closets that share my sense of style?

Click on the “Find A Closet” button at the top of the page and select one or more style ratings. The search results will show you closets that match your style.


I am looking for a specific item to trade. How do I find it?

Click on the “Go Trading” button at the top of the screen. You can search for an item by entering as much detail about it as you choose. The more detail you provide the more focused your search results will be.

Are there fees for trading items on OURthreads?

No. Trading is absolutely free.


How much does it cost to sell an item on OURthreads?

OURthreads receives a commission of 3.5% of the sales price of all items sold on OURthreads.com. If an item is returned, the seller may request a refund of the commission by clicking on the Request a Review button in the My Account section.



I want to accept payment for my items using Paypal. Does it cost me anything to use Paypal?

OURthreads is not affiliated with Paypal and we do not charge any fees to users if they want to accept Paypal for their items. However, Paypal does charge a fee to its users. You should refer to your Paypal terms and conditions for detailed information.
